FORMER Oswestry Town manager Stuart Mason has died at the age of 57.
He started his career at home town Whitchurch Alport and signed for Wrexham in July 1966 making 185 League appearances interrupted by a spell at Liverpool, where he failed to make the first team.
After moving to Chester in 1973 he made a further 137 appearances loan spells at Rochdale and Crewe Alexandra.
Mason, who also won three caps as an England youth international, signed for Bangor City and took over as manager from Dave Elliot in 1978 for one season, later moving to Northern Premier League rivals Oswestry in the mid 1980s. He was also an excellent cricketer and represented Shropshire in the Minor Counties League.
