WITH pre-season training brought forward and stepped up in intensity to prepare the Saints' squad for their clashes with Manchester City, the club's management is looking to arrange some tougher pre-season friendlies.
Saints will now play Shrewsbury Town at Treflan on Saturday 26 July, kick-off 3.00 pm.
The Shrews had planned a game with Swansea on that day, but the south Wales club has pulled out.
Relegated to the Conference at the end of last season, Town are rebuilding in a bid for a quick return to the Nationwide League.
Boss Jimmy Quinn says his squad rebuilding process is coming together nicely but admits fans may have to wait before new faces are confirmed.
He is close to finalising the half a dozen signings he believes will turn the club into a Conference promotion force and says it is a matter of crossing the t's and dotting the i's on deals for next week.
Irish clubs Derry City and Portadown have been mentioned also as possible pre-season opponents for Saints - both have European experience.
