NEWPORT MAY SWITCH FAW PREMIER CUP TIE
WP ARCHIVE
THE high cost of security may force Newport County to switch their home FAW Premier Cup quarter final tie to their opponents' Ninian Park ground.
On the way to last season's final, County beat Cardiff City at home in the semi-finals, but security and extra policing cost the club more than the 10,000 prize money they received for winning the match.
"We don't want to lose home advantage," said Newport chairman Wallace Brown, "but we realise we will gain no financial benefit for hosting this game.
"The prize money sum is on no way guaranteed and switching the game to Ninian Park will be discussed next week."
Newport have already picked up 21,500 for reaching the last eight.
