SAINTS NOT MOVING TO PARK HALL
WP ARCHIVE
CONTRARY to inaccurate reports elsewhere, the purchase of Park Hall Stadium in Oswestry does not signal the imminent end of Welsh Premier football in Llansantffraid.
TNS managing director Mike Harris bought the former Oswestry Town ground last week from the local Council.
At the same time, the club announced a joint venture with the Council to develop a 25-acre sports park in the town, which will include a 3000-seat football stadium that meets Uefa criteria for the staging of European games.
Development of the new ground is dependent on the location of a suitable site and considerable external funding.
In the meantime, the acquisition of Park Hall is designed to provide additional secondary facilities for the burgeoning development of reserves, youth, academy and ladies football at the club, for which Treflan is not available currently, in order to protect the playing surface for first-team football and because changing facilities have to be rented from the village.
Once the new stadium is in place, the club will have two alternative venues for non-first team football.
