SAINTS HEAD FOR LIVE SEASIDE SHOWDOWN
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE
ABERYSTWYTH TOWN v THE NEW SAINTS
Sat 25 Oct 2021 / Park Avenue / 5.30pm
[LIVE S4C TV from 5.10pm]
The balloon went up for TNS at Aberystwyth last season as they were beaten 5-1.
SAINTS will be aiming to improve on last season's Welsh Premier visit to Park Avenue when they appear in front of live TV cameras this Saturday.
Jamie Reed, who later trained with TNS in pre-season this summer, fired a hat-trick as the Saints were rocked by a 5-1 defeat in their second game of the campaign.
This time around, both sides are unbeaten in the league as Andy Cale's men bid to stay on the coat tails of leaders Rhyl and Llanelli.
There is good news and bad news for the management, with Jamie Wood available again after a three-match ban, but Barry Hogan sidelined with a one-match suspension after accumulating five cautions.
Seasiders' skipper and central defender Christian Edwards is relishing the clash and paid his opponents a massive compliment.
"TNS are the most complete football team this league has produced since the Barry Town team of the mid-90s," Edwards told the Western Mail.
"I played for Swansea when Barry were league champions and they played us off the park when they were in their prime.
"TNS have again proved that with full-time training the quality players have a better chance of achieving their best on a regular basis."
It's up to the players to put in a better performance than in recent weeks to prevent Edwards from eating his words.
