THE Mid-Wales Youth League game between Newtown at TNS Youth was held up for a quarter of an hour on Sunday so that Saints' Rob Ashley could be air-lifted to hospital.
The forward went down with an injured knee after 14 minutes with suspected cartilage damage.
Under normal circumstances, a traditional ambulance would have sufficed, but the difficult access to Newtown's pitch meant a wheeled vehicle could not be used.
So the air ambulance was called out to take the unfortunate Ashley to Shrewsbury.
TNS Youth won the game 4-0 to maintain their challenge for the title, which reaches a crucial phase when they meet leaders Welshpool Town at Park Hall on Thursday night.
