TNS boss Ken McKenna was ruing the fine line between success and failure, after Saints' 5-0 drubbing of Welshpool failed to to overhaul champions Rhyl.
Four wins on the bounce since the Easter Sunday defeat at Belle Vue kept TNS in the hunt until the final day.
But McKenna feels that the referee missed a deliberate handball and an off-side goal as his side were beaten 1-0.
"Had a couple of decisions gone for us during the game, then it might have been different. That's where the league title was won and lost.
"I feel very frustrated," he admitted. "If we had enjoyed the rub of the green this season it might have been different."
However, McKenna was full of praise for his friend and rival John Hulse.
"All credit to Rhyl, they have done really well and I didn't expect them to slip up in their last couple of games."
