The impending return of Lee Williams to TNS is a bit of a puzzle, where are the up and coming keepers in Wales? Are they being snapped up by English clubs? Many clubs have struggled in recent seasons to find a decent keeper but surely a proffessional outfit such as TNS shouldn't be turning the clock back.I thought Cale was an advocate of a youth policy! |

If you are referring to James Coates, he was unhappy because he wasn't getting a game - Ged has been in such good form. |

I'd imagine he really is just a stop-gap solution, similar, in more ways than one, to Man Utd signing Andy Goram a few years back. No-one would really believe he will be a 40+ games a season bloke at this time of his career, but with Ged in such good form, none of the other keepers, ie Coates and Gibson, were going to get a look in. I think Ken just wanted the assurance that he had a proven keeper on the bench who wouldn't necessarily demand to start every game but who could do a job if called upon - he knows William's history and knows what he's getting so until Saints can sign someone who will genuinely challenge Ged, I can't see any sub keeper lasting more than 10 games before moving on again.
There really are some quality keepers in the youth squad though, with at least 5 higher-league clubs between them already, they will undoubtedly be the ones who challenge Ged in the future. |
