To refer to Lucy, If using your Scenario, there is one english club playing in Scotland, SIX Welsh clubs playing in England. Add to that Oswestry's over one hundred years history with welsh football also them being founders members of the welsh f.a. Its surely time this silly arggument was put well and truly to bed!!!

Sorry to revive this thread!!

Was going to post about the Ryder Cup, suggesting that you Welsh would be claiming that Ian Woosnam is Welsh when Europe win it.

But then I clicked on here, knowing that he was born in Oswestry

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/golf/2006/players/107/

and hey, look, Oswestry is in Wales anyway!!

(Haz will be delighted!!)

Beautiful image isn't it!? For the record, made the tectonic plates comment before seeing the Noodle advert about Wales splitting off from Italy and getting the Noodle Mines.

channel-hopping - honest! - I happened across "Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire" featuring Bonnie Langford (who once flounced across the lounge of the Grand Hotel in Brum when I was in there having a drink and who I haven't liked ever since) and some pouffy dancer called Anton.

Their next question for 16k was "In which county is the ancient Market Town of Oswestry?". Having a combined IQ of 6.75, they phoned a friend to establish whether it was Devon Norfolk Derbyshire or, surprisingly Shropshire.

Just as the guy answered the phone Anton, having previously said he had no idea, said "I thought it was in Wales"

Priceless!
