TNS eased to a comforable victory at a windswept Deeside Stadium with goals in either half from Nicky Ward and Steve Evans.
Ward's comeback in the starting line-up provided a night of mixed emotions.
He headed Saints into the lead with a 36th minute far post header from Scott Ruscoe's cross, but after picking up a booking early in the second half, was sent off for a robust if innocuous second challenge on Nomads' central defender Chris Williams.
Ken McKenna's men dominated possession from the off, but found it difficult to break down the defensive Nomads in the final third.
Home keeper Paul Smith was rarely troubled, although he had to be alert to intercept an early low cross from John Toner with Marc Lloyd Williams lurking.
Ged Doherty had even less to do, although his defence caused a moment of panic when they needed several attempts to clear a free-kick from Alan Morgan, a midweek signing from Rhyl.
Within eight minutes of the restart Saints increased their lead as Steve Evans powered an 18-yard header from a right wing corner into the net.Ward's dismissal had little effect on the pattern of play, although Nomads' substitutes James Hussaney Paul McDonnell had a few lively moments.
But Saints would have added to their lead three minutes from time when Toner latched on to a good long ball to surge past the home defence, only for keeper Smith to earn himself an early bath by handling at the striker's feet outside his area.
