Saints go Wilde against Airbus
MIKE Wilde bagged a hat-trick as Saints comfortably beat the the Wingmakers.
A dro-ball in the 25th minute lead to the opener as Wilde was first to react and broke past the last defender Steve Hopkins before slotting past keeper Adam McGhee from the edge of the box.
The Wingmakers restricted the Saints' chances in the first-half, although Graham Evans got a bad bobble to miscue just before the break when he put his far post shot over the bar.
Craig Jones went closest for Airbus with a speculative long-range lob that was dealt with by Gerard Doherty, whose dalliance in the box had earlier almost resulted in an own goal as he dribbled the ball out for a corner.
A better second-half performance saw Wilde complete his threesome in a five-minute spell as Scott Ruscoe's short corner was crossed by sub John Leah for a header at the far post.
Graham Evans provided for the third when his shot was parried by McGhee to Wilde, who netted from close range at the second attempt.
The Wingmakers' neat build-up play had little cutting edge, although Chris Moores fired wide in the final minutes.
Wilde was only denied a fourth by a fine McGhee save, before Jamie Wood hit the inside of the post only to see his effort somehow elude the back of the net.
