Crows put to flight by the Saints
TNS tightened their grip at the top of the Welsh Premier after sweeping aside the highy-flying Crows with consummate ease.
Saints ruled the roost from start to finish as the Gwent outfit were never able to compete on level terms.
Nicky Ward topped and tailed the scoring to bring his season's tally to nine in league and cup, opening his account in the 29th minute. He had earlier missed a fifth minute sitter with only keeper Gareth Wesson to beat, but made no mistake when rounding off a good move involving Tommy Holmes, Scott Ruscoe and man-of-the-match Greg Stones.
Four minutes later Cwmbran went further behind. Another good ball from Holmes found John Toner who cleverly took the ball round Daniel Clare before planting a 12-yard volley into the roof of the net.
A host of chances went begging before TNS increased their lead on 57 minutes. Toner's outstretched leg just failed to connect with a Ruscoe cross but, from the resulting short corner, Ruscoe crossed perfectly for Michael Jackson to score with a superb header.
Ward danced past defenders to score a fine individual goal on 74 minutes and round off a comfortable success for Ken McKenna's men.
