RUSCOE STRIKE SENDS TNS TOP
A SCOTT Ruscoe goal was enough to give TNS maximum points at home to Port Talbot and gives them a three point lead at the top of the table.
With Russell Wigley unavailable for this top of the table match Hayden Fleming was a recall to the starting eleven while Gary Twynham was made captain.
TNS started the brighter of the two sides and within minutes of the start had an effort that beat Gary Wager before hitting the post. Port talbot looked uneasy in the opening exchanges with Alan Clark caught short on a number of occasions on the left side.
As the home side continued to pressure Port Talbot held on and created a few half chances on the break, Leon Jeanne finding Mark Dodds in space but he could only find the keeper with his low shot.
The second half saw the introduction of Lee Matthews for Alan Clark and Matthews battled hard in midfield. The physical presence of the TNS back line gave Port Talbot nothing as they won every challenge as the visitors offered little in attack.
Gary Wager was called into action again early in the half and pulled off a fine save to deny the home side extending their lead.
Despite being second best on the day, Port Talbot continued to battle but the superiority of the full time outfit shone through over the 90 minutes as Port Talbot never really looked like scoring.
