Lamb has spring in his step

STRIKER Carl Lamb broke his TNS duck to fire a late brace and secure a well-deserved victory for the Saints.
But until the substitute's intervention, Porthmadog were clinging to hopes of snatching a point from a game in which they had been thoroughly outplayed from start to finish.
After dominating the visitors from the first whistle, the Saints still had nothing to show for their efforts until just before the hour mark. John Leah rounded off an early goalmouth melee by firing over the bar and after a slip by Port defender Richard Hughes, Alfie Carter was foiled by keeper Richard Harvey.
Michael Wilde had a shot saved and Jamie Wood found the side netting after Carter's effort had been blocked.
Harvey did well to save from Wilde just before the break with John Toner just wide from the rebound and Saints almost paid for their failure to convert chances minutes later. In their only potent attack of the match, Porthmadog almost scored when Carl Jones beat two defenders down the left before squaring inside to Gareth Caughter, who saw his rising shot tipped onto the top of the crossbar by keeper Gerard Doherty.
But the home pressure finally told in the 58th-minute when Chris King's corner was headed goalwards by Michael Jackson and Michael Wilde got the final touch in a goal-line scramble.
Suckered into two cup defeats by Porthmadog's late goals this season, the Saints needed another to clinch the points and they scored twice in the last eight minutes to steady any nerves.
A superb long ball from King split the Port defence and the lively Lamb swept his shot majestically past keeper Richard Harvey from the edge of the box, before rounding off a move from Wilde's inside pass for the last-minute third goal which gave the scoreline a more realistic look.
