Ryan torments Bangor again

RYAN Marriott scored twice in a man-of-the-match performance as The New Saints marched into the League Cup quarter-finals at the expense of Bangor City.
The youngster nicknamed "Sonic" carried-on where he left-off in the final 20 minutes of the 1-0 Welsh Premier win at Farrar Road on Saturday, mesmerising the Citizens' defence on many occasions.
But the highlights of an entertaining 5-2 win were two stunning 25-yard strikes from Matthew Berkeley, the first to open the Saints' account after 34 minutes when he seized on a wayward throw-in from Dave Swanick.
Bangor had barely raised a potent attack, but struck back quickly when a Sion Edwards corner was cleared only as far as Chris Sharp, who sent his shot through a crowded box just inside the near post.
The Saints' response was immediate, Craig Williams crossing for Marriott to convert cooly from three yards out.
Producing his best performance in green and white, Berkeley extended the lead soon after half-time, crashing another long-range effort past a bewildered Paul Smith, but a mistake by veteran TNS keeper Lee Williams allowed the Blues to reduce the arrears with an Ashley Stott header.
A comedy of errors at the other end led to the Saints' fourth, Michael Johnston clearing Marriott's header off the line, only for Smith to send the ball straight to Craig Williams who gobbled-up the chance.
And, with the hosts now rampant, Marriott capped his superb display, heading the fifth beyond Smith's grasp and into the far corner from John McKenna's right-wing cross.
