RESOUNDING WIN FOR TNS
A resounding win for TNS, with an early goal after five minutes when Anthony Wright met a deep cross with power and conviction to leave keeper Paul Evans no chance. On 18 minutes John Toner slipped his marker and fired hard and low past a diving Paul Evans to double the lead - and end the match. On 26 minutes Sean Hazelden won a 50-50 tackle on the edge of the box and was committed to a repeat effort some 40 yards out - as was Colin Webster. The young Saint fell injured and had to be stretchered off. On the half hour Matthew Bishop might have reduced the deficit when good approach work from Richard Owen and Aled Rowlands created an opening, but his shot went to close to Deegan. Then Sean Hazelden headed straigth at the keeper from 15 yards and Marc Lloyd Williams won a freekick but Clayton Blackmore sent his effort wide. Just before half time TNS went further ahead as John Toner shot past Paul Evans. After 53 minutes Nicky Ward placed a header from the left side of the area past Paul Evans to seal the game for the Saints. |
