Match report WELSH PREMIER

SAINTS restored their three-point cushion at the top of the Welsh Premier after overcoming some spirited resistance from Caersws at Treflan.
Encounters between the sides often prove closely fought affairs, and this was no exception as the Llansantffraid men eventually prevailed with a 2-1 success.
But the Bluebirds had their chances, particularly in the first half with Graham Evans having a shot turned over the bar by keeper Gerard Doherty after just five minutes.
Although Saints striker John Toner was denied by Antony Griffiths' timely tackle, the visitors then enjoyed a good spell with Graham Jones firing over when well placed on the half hour and Evans bringing another save from Doherty.
But it was TNS who made the breakthrough on 33 minutes when Martin Naylor's free kick from the left found Steve Evans who glanced his header past the diving Andy Mulliner.
The Bluebird's keeper also saved at the feet of Toner, Steve Evans then headed narrowly wide from another Naylor free kick while at the other end, top scorer Evans was foiled again by Doherty on the stroke of half time.
The Saints, however, grabbed a crucial second four minutes into the second period when, following a run by Scott Ruscoe, the ball fell for skipper Gary Brabin who struck a 25-yard volley into the net despite the visitors' claims for offside earlier in the move.
With both sides carving out chances, Caersws revived their cause on 65 minutes when Sean Jehu nipped in to meet Griffith's free kick and nod past Doherty.
