Crocked during the warm-up - Llanelli 'keeper Jason Jones is attended by first-aid staffTNS WON this game more convincingly than the scoreline suggests, wasting a host of chances and having two goals ruled out for offside against their willing but outgunned visitors.
Llanelli were dealt a major blow even before the kick off when keeper Jason Jones was stretched off to hospital after twisting his knee in the warm-up and had to be replaced by Dai Hughes who normally operates as a centre forward.
TNS ghosted into the lead with ease when a misunderstanding between the new custodian and his defence saw him try and gather a cross in the swirling wind and allowed Toner the sight of an empty goal and he did not miss from close range.
Outplayed Llanelli's defence were not doing their keeper any favours and they lost possession again, but this time Toner's shot was straight at the keeper.
Although they were being outplayed, the TNS defence was also proving itself error-prone in the swirling wind and the visitors could have levelled matters when Sommer took the ball around the advancing keeper but delayed his shot to await support and the chance was gone.
Then Richard Lewis was allowed time and space on the edge of the box but his fiercely struck shot was straight at TNS keeper Williams.
Midway through the second half the Saints doubled their lead following a good run down the right by Ruscoe and a close range header from Justin Perry.
Brabin had what would have been the goal of the game rulled out when his dipping cross hit the back of the net but the referee ruled it out for offside after consulting the linesman.
Perry's second goal, was also a beauty, crashing home a rising shot from 15 yards out when put through on goal on the stroke of half time.
The second half was an anti-climax with TNS lacking the killer instinct to improve their goal difference and Llanelli lacking the guile to get back into the game.
Llanelli keeper made several good saves, once from his own defender's header which he tipped over the bar, but he was fortunate when an header by TNS sub Wilde was ruled out for pushing.
When the visitors scored their consolation three minutes from time there was something of an early pantomime about it as keeper Dean Williams allowed a back pass from the left to bounce over his foot and allow Lewis Sommer to beat him in a race for the ball and poke it home.
