RUSCOE BRACE SEALS COMFORTABLE WIN
A SECOND half brace from Scott Ruscoe helped Saints to an emphatic 4-0 victory over 10 man Caersws. In a tight first half, Graham Evans went close with an early header for the Bluebirds and Graham Jones fired over against a solid TNS defence. At the other end, home keeper John Sillitoe made a couple of good saves to deny John Toner and also pushed a Nicky Ward special around the post on 18 minutes. There was little to choose between the sides, but the breakthrough came four minutes before the interval, when Ward's strike was parried by Sillitoe and Dave Bridgewater latched onto the rebound before firing home via a deflection. Colin Reynolds bought a save from Dean Williams on the stroke of half time but Caersws's hopes of salvaging the game faded after the break.
After Sillitoe had saved from Ruscoe, the hosts were reduced to 10 men on 67 minutes when Sean Jehu (left) was contentiously dismissed for an elbowing incident. Saints took full toll of their one man advantage with Ruscoe adding a second in fine style six minutes later when he cracked home a stunning 30-yard volley. The midfielder increased the tally with another strike on 75 minutes and substitute Mike Wilde completed the rout when converting Ward's cross from the left. Caersws continued to battle, with Evans having a shot saved and David Williams seeing a corner cleared off the line by Ward. But there was no way back for the hosts as TNS ran out the victors. |
