SAINTS maintained their lead at the top of the Welsh Premier with this narrow victory at Farrar Road.
Bangor will rightly feel they deserved to take something from the game, but despite creating the majority of what few chances there were, their finishing let them down.
In the end, a 72nd minute free header by defender Steve Evans from Nicky Ward's right wing corner was decisive for Saints, who will be happy to take the points from a dour encounter in which neither side mastered the windy conditions.
TNS provided poor service for frontmen Wilde and Wood, who had a frustrating afternoon chasing lost causes and were never able to pressurise 17-year old debutante Daniel Evans in the City net.
First half highlights were few and far between, with the lively Goodall twice firing wide for Bangor and Paul Roberts denied on the line by Naylor just before the break.
Mike Wilde missed a good opportunity to put TNS ahead in the 56th minute, but pulled his shot wide from five yards before Goodall again curled a shot just wide for the Citizens.
Ross Jefferies saw an excellent effort just miss at the left hand post before Evans made the home side rue their missed chances.
TNS could have added to their lead, but Jamie Wood's overhead kick from just inside the box hit Evans's cross-bar.
As Saints closed down the game, they survived an appeal for handball and restricted Bangor to a late free kick from Goodall which did not trouble Dean Williams.
Jimmy Aggrey endured an uncomfortable afternoon before being replaced by the fit again John Toner, and with the injured players coming back into the picture, Saints will be looking for better performances ahead.
