BREEZE RESIGNS AS DRAW SEQUENCE ENDS WITH A BANG
SHELLSHOCKED TNS were left to pick up the pieces after their six game draw sequence ended in a 10-goal mauling - followed by the resignation of manager, Graham Breeze.
The Saints' frailties were ruthlessly exploited by a rampant Barry side that showed little mercy in the goal bonanza.
Ace marksman Eifion Williams helped himself to five of the goals, as the south Walians overcame one of their bogey sides in emphatic manner.
Little went right for TNS who never recovered after finding themselves trailing to a disputed goal from Williams after just two minutes. The ball seemed to have rolled over the byline before being crossed in for the striker to convert.
Barry were five up within 25 minutes with Williams converting his hat-trick along with strikes from Gary Lloyd and Terry Evans.
And it needed some fine saves from Andy Mulliner to avoid further embarrassment, as Barry carved a string of good openings.
Although the encounter was over as a contest at the interval, the hosts maintained their momentum after the break with an Arwel Jones own goal increasing the tally.
Craig Evans, a Williams brace and Hughes completed the rout.
Manager Breeze admitted the woeful defeat was one of the bleakest days in his footballing career.
"It was a humiliating experience, one I don't want to go through again," he said.
"I feel I've been let down by some of the players, but I have to take responsibility."
