SAINTS SETTLE FOR A POINT
LLANSANTFFRAID strode into the lead after only three minutes at home to Cwmbran but had to settle for a point as the South Walians hit back before half time.
Cwmbran were also quick off the mark, Saints keeper Andy Mulliner making a brilliant save to deny Simon Dyer with the game only 30 seconds old.
However, Cwmbran were pushed back in the third minute. Ian Evans initiated the move, playing the ball to John Whelan on the wing who found Adrian Jones to score with a diving header
The Saints stayed in front until the 21st minute when Daniel Jenkins found himself unmarked and hammered the ball home from six yards.
Llansantffraid's Tomi Morgan headed over from Simon Abercrombie and Cwmbran keeper Neil Thomas blocked shots by Gary and Ian Evans. Norman Parcelle also headed over the bar.
Adrian Jones went close after beating two Cwmbran defenders in the second half and Gary Evans' shot rebounded off an upright with Thomas beaten.
Cwmbran lost Andrew Mainwaring with a broken ankle in the second half.
