EVANS INSPIRES SAINTS TO CUP WIN
LLANSANTFFRAID are in the fourth round after knocking out Llandyrnog 2-1 and the man who led the way was talented midfielder, Gary Evans.
The Saints led 1-0 at half-time with a 32nd minute strike by Simon Abercrombie.
It was Evans, who is being targeted by Stafford Rangers, Macclesfield and other clubs, who helped to make the goal with a cross to the far post.
John Whelan headed it down to the feet of Abercrombie, who blasted the ball in.
Sean Ryder then hit the bar and Llandyrnog keeper Gary Jones dived bravely at the feet of Tommy Morgan.
But Llandyrnog cranked up their attack in the opening minutes of the second half and the dangerous Derry Morris was twice denied by Andy Mulliner within a minute.
The Saints recovered and with 68 minutes gone the Whelan twins made the score 2-0. John had a shot deflected and brother Chris drove in the loose ball.
The game was in injury time when Llandyrnog sprang a late surprise. Arfon Griffiths headed against the bar and Jason Jones scored with the rebound.
