SAINTS IN A HURRY TO MAKE QUARTER-FINAL
IN a hurry to book their quarter-final ticket, Saints continued on their upward curve to send Abergavenny out of the cup.
They had the ball in the net after only three minutes, John Whelan finding twin brother Chris who beat the keeper.
Thursdays were in deeper trouble in the 38th minute when Tommy Morgan panicked the defence and Gary Thomas put the ball into his own net.
Visiting keeper Andrew Best saved well from Chris Whelan shortly before half-time and Whelan went close again after the break.
However, the Abergavenny defence caved in again after 52 minutes. A John Whelan cross was headed back across the box by Simon Abercrombie for Morgan to unleash a six yard drive out of Best's reach.
And five minutes later the Saints' new midfield man, Darren Barrett, playing only his second game, got the fourth.
Morgan set it up and Gary Curtiss laid the ball off for Barrett to run onto.
