MORGAN SECURES LAST FOUR SPOT
LLANSANTFFRAID progressed into the Welsh Cup's last four for the first time in their history, thanks to a last gasp strike from veteran Tommy Morgan. Garry Evans was brought down on the edge of the box by home skipper Mark Gibson, who was shown the red card for a second bookable offence, and Morgan stepped up to send the free kick into the net. But the Saints had their work cut out against a lively Ponty side who took the lead on 37 minutes, when Ramon Bachetta headed home. The visitors looked more purposeful after the interval and pulled level on 50 minutes when Morgan turned his first goal from a Gary Curtiss cross. Both sides had their chances, with Ponty's Dean Morris hitting the bar, but the Saints held on to clinch a semi-final clash with Inter-Cardiff. |
