LATE GOALS RESCUE CARMARTHEN
TWO late goals rescued new-boys Carmarthen after Llansantffraid strode into a 3-1 half-time lead and threatened to bury them.
And it was a disastrous mistake from Saints' keeper Andy Mulliner that handed Town a point. His poor goal-kick went straight to Ray Pennock who bagged his second goal of the game just two minutes from time.
Saints got a grip on the game in the opening minutes, despite injury-based selection problems, and after Tommy Morgan had hit the bar, they pulled away in the 12th minute.
Gary Evans released Morgan with a through ball and he pulled back for Chris Whelan to plant it firmly into the net.
Saints' keeper Andy Mulliner stayed on his toes to save from Michael Davies, but with 20 minutes gone, Ray Pennock put Carmarthen level.
Town keeper Richard Thomas was beaten by Morgan in the 28th minute and nine minutes later, Whelan bent the ball round him from wide out.
With Saints calling the shots, Thomas excelled in the visitors' goal.
But Carmarthen fought back on the hour and Michael Davies snapped up a chance following a defensive error, before Mulliner's late mistake handed Town a share of the spoils.
