HOT SHOT DOUBLE BURIES LEADERS
SAINTS grabbed their first home win of the season to end leaders Conwy's 100% record in the League of Wales.
Determined Saints started brightly and took a 25th minute lead, when Adie Jones rounded keeper Martin Jones on the right to slot home, following a well-worked move with Chris Whelan.
And less than five minutes later, Llansantffraid doubled their lead.
Garry Evans pierced the defence with a neat through ball and Tommy Morgan beat the advancing Jones from the edge of the box with the ball falling inside the post.
Conwy, who had been victorious in all of their first six league outings, went close when Ken McKenna's volley was superbly tipped over the bar by keeper Andy Mulliner just before half-time.
But five minutes after the interval, the Saints took a firm grip of the encounter when Morgan broke through from half way, turned inside two defenders and found the net, after Jones could only parry his low shot.
The visitors revived their hopes when Paul Mullen floated a 20-yard free kick home on 70 minutes.
But their disappointing day was summed up when McKenna saw an injury time penalty well saved by Mulliner.
