MANAGERLESS TNS EARN MORALE-BOOSTING POINT
CARETAKER boss Adie Jones rescued Saints to earn a frantic draw in the derby at Newtown. Jones popped up with an equaliser on the stroke of half-time when he was left unmarked to head home a Gary Curtis near post corner. His opportune strike was a welcome boost for TNS who fully merited a point from a scrappy affair. After last week's 10-goal drubbing at Barry, Saints again started badly, when Andy Mulliner failed to hold Scott Ruscoe's 17th minute corner and Tim Patteson volleyed home from close range. But both sides struggled to find momentum on a greasy surface. Saints weathered some Robins' attacks in the second half and could have returned with the spoils had Jones not fired two late efforts over the bar. |
