Newcomers share points

The battle of the Konica League newcomers ended even at Ynys Park, with neither side managing to score.
In a competitive first half, the Saints came closest to scoring through Mike Davies, but his 25 yard effort after 20 minutes came back off the cross bar. Ten minutes later Stuart Tulloch, starting the game for Llansantffraid after missing last week’s win over Briton Ferry, hit a fine shot that was well saved by Martin Ellacott in the Ton goal.
The home side’s best effort came from Brett Gullitt, who beat Jason Weetman to a far post cross but headed narrowly wide.
As the game progressed, openings became few and far between with both defences in excellent form; the two goalkeepers were rarely troubled in the second half.
With both teams looking set to share the honours, Ian Clarke broke form midfield but was brought down on the edge of the box. His resulting free kick bent around the wall and beat the keeper, but again the Saints were denied by the cross bar.
