Breeze nudges league after leaders turn ugly

Ebbw Vale’s physical approach knocked Llansantffraid off their stride as the South Walians strode to the top of the league.
Referee Arwel Jones was the busiest man on the field, booking seven Vale players and sending off home substitute Mike Brown for a second bookable offence, but he should have clamped down on the visitors’ tough tactics.
Llansantffraid defender Dave Williams ended up with a leg in plaster after being flattened by Vale player/manager Steve Williams, and several home players required the trainer’s attention after sustaining facial damage through the constant use of elbows.
Saints' keeper Andy Mulliner kept his side in with a shout with a brilliant first half stop from Williams, but there was nothing he could do to prevent Simon Tyler's 47th minute drive after Brown had got himself in a tangle trying to deal with the keepers clearance.
Despite Vale’s intimidating tactics Llansantffraid fought hard for an equaliser and twice Vale survived goalmouth scrambles before Brown’s 77th minute sending off for a foul on Tyler.
From the free kick Steve Woods reacted quickly and sealed victory.
