In-form Edwards hits four
Llansantffraid halted a three-match losing run with an emphatic victory over Llanelli in the Konica League of Wales. Striker Andy Edwards was chief destroyer, grabbing all four goals to double his seasons tally. The Saint’s despite failing to get International clearance to field new striker Steve Clifford, constantly looked dangerous against an inexperienced Llanelli outfit. Edwards headed the opener on 22 minutes and grabbed his second three minutes later when he stretched out a leg to convert a cross from Billy Morris. Llanelli also had their moments with Steve Morgan being foiled by Andy Mulliner while the visiting striker also fired wide with just the keeper to beat. But the game swung Llansantffraid’s way on 58 minutes when Llanelli defender Mark Davies was sent off for holding back the advancing Billy Morris. Edwards made the most of the chance when he cracked home the resulting free-kick from 20 yards. The former Wrexham marksman completed his tally on 75 minutes when he headed home a deep cross from David Williams at the far post. |
