HAPPY IAN SEALS DERBY WIN
BIRTHDAY boy Ian Evans had a double celebration after sending Newtown tumbling to only their second League defeat of the season.
The midfielder pounced for the decisive first-half goal to give his side a battling 1-0 win at rain-drenched Latham Park.
Winger Simon Abercrombie whipped in a 25th minute cross and Evans provided a neat finish.
Both sides struggled in the waterlogged conditions which produced little flowing football and few clear-cut chances.
Newtown went close when Gareth Hanmer's free kick and a long-range lob from Mark Williams both clipped the bar.
Guy Jones also fired over from close range and Andy Cooke headed straight at keeper Andy Mulliner while, at the other end, Kevin O'Neill's lob was only narrowly off target.
