EVANS-SENT GOAL KEEPS SAINTS ALIVE

LLANSANTFFRAID stayed right on Konica League Cup course after earning a 1-1 semi final first leg draw at Holywell.
Trailling to a spectacular opener, the visitors hit back after thebreak through Gary Evans to put them in the box seat for a place in the final.
The Wellmen cashed in on a bright start when Kenny Woods walloped in a fierce 25-yarder ten minutes before the break.
But, despite being without leading scorer Tommy Morgan, Saints came alive after the restart.
And the second half was just two minutes old when Evans picked up a loose ball, and beat two men before firing home from the edge of the box.
John Whelan then twice went close, one effort going narrowly wide, with the other just over.
But Holywell could have snatched it late on when a shot from Gareth Thomas deflected off Gary Jones onto the bar.
And keeper Andy Mulliner also had to make a spectacular save to deny Pat Moran's header.
