SAINTS SWALLOW BITTER CUP PILL
LLANSANTFFRAID crashed to a surprise 1-0 defeat at Cefn Druids in the second round of the Allbright Bitter Welsh Cup. One goal was enough to give Cefn the verdict over the Saints and it came after just four minutes when Scott Francis jinked his way through the defence before coolly slotting the ball in. Saints were under some pressure in the early stages but gradually got back into the match. Just before the interval, Tommy Morgan ran around the Cefn keeper but only managed to hit the cross-bar. In the second half, Saints took-control for a while but Tommy Morgan and Billy Morris missed chances. Saints' best opportunity came when Danny Blocksidge beat the keeper and squared the ball for Billy Morris to net, but Morris had strayed offside and the goal was disallowed. |
