Saints rue penalty miss
There’s no stopping Newtown, as league strugglers Llansantfraid found out to their cost in a physical derby match.
Goals by young striker Andy Cooke in the 3rd and 18th minutes gave Newtown the platform from which to build their sixth league win in a row.
Ex-Newtown player Billy Morris pulled a goal back for Llansantffraid with a deflected shot in the 23rd minute and was then fouled for the penalty 10 minutes after the interval.
But the Saints were made to pay as Carlton Miller’s weak spot-kick was saved by keeper Michael Barton and the visitors went on to seal the points with a goal from Mark Williams on the counter attack 10 minutes later.
