Saints revive survival hopes

LLANSANTFFRAID rose from the bottom of the Konica League of Wales as their late revival gained momentum with a home win against defending champions Cwmbran.
The Saints, in charge for most of the match, avenged a cruel defeat at Cwmbran earlier this season by scoring the only goal of the match in the 78th minute.
Player-manager Ian Clarke played an indirect free-kick to Billy Morris who fired home from eight yards with Cwmbran packing the goalmouth with all 11 players.
Cwmbran goalkeeper Pat O’Hagan kept his side in the match with a string of fine saves to deny Steve Clifford, Morris and Carlton Miller.
But the Saints almost threw away two points in the dying minutes when Francis Ford’s goalbound header was cleared off the line by defender Mike Brown.
