Saints rue missed chances
Llansantffraid came away from Inter Cardiff empty handed but knew they should have had a share of the points.
For long periods at Ninian Park it was difficult to tell the difference between the side fighting relegation and the side aiming for European football next season as the Saints squandered several scoring opportunities.
Ian Clarke’s men wasted two early chances – Steve Clifford lobbing narrowly over and Carlton Miller heading off target from six yards.
Inter took the lead against the run of play on 41 minutes when Paul Giles crossed from the left into a crowded goalmouth and defender Mark Cartwright fired into his own net.
Ten minutes later the Saints were level when Clifford’s looping header found the net from Clarke’s cross.
The hosts came out stronger in the second period and sealed victory when Paul Evans capitalised on a defensive mix-up.
Despite finishing strongly, the Saints couldn’t find a way past ex-Everton and Scotland keeper George Wood in the Inter goal.
