The New Saints
Relegation trap door opening wider for Saints
THE relegation trap door opened wider for Llansantffraid last Monday when they slumped to defeat at Llanelli to stay in the bottom two after yet again squandering a host of scoring chances.
Two goals in the space of three minutes mid-way through the first-half paved the way for Llanelli. Evans opened the scoring in the 32nd minute and he was quickly followed on the score sheet by Steven Myers.
Gary Lloyd made it 3-0 from the penalty spot after a foul on Phil Davidson in the 55th minute and Steve Clifford then fired a spot kick against both posts.
The penalty miss summed up the Saints frustrating day, for they hit the woodwork seven times in all. John Davies pulled a goal back for them with 20 minutes to go but Lloyd added his second soon afterwards, leaving Garry Evans to complete the scoring for Llansantffraid in the 85th minute.
