PENALTY EARNS DRAW

STRIKER Ian Howatt converted a 75th minute penalty to earn Saints a 2-2 draw with visitors Newtown.
The experienced marksman netted from the spot after a low cross from Tim Nunnerley was unluckily handled by Peter Wilding when the ball flew off his boot.
Saints had made the perfect start after five minutes when Howatt crossed for midfielder Gary Evans to plant a firm header past Mike Barton.
But the hosts were unable to sustain momentum and Newtown hit back when leading scorer Andy Cooke turned in a low free kick from Gareth Hanmer on the half hour.
The Robins went ahead five minutes later when Cooke was tripped in the box by Mark Baker and Hanmer converted from the spot.
Newtown had Marc Roberts sent off seven minutes from time for two bookable offences.
