Jiws silences the Park Avenue jeers
MARC Lloyd-Williams came off the bench to a hostile reception from the Park Avenue faithful.
But he answered them in the best possible way with his debut goal for TNS to salvage a point with five minutes remaining.
The league's record scorer got his head to a Jamie Wood cross to beat former TNS keeper Dean Williams with five minutes left.
It was no more than Saints deserved in a game of poor quality in which both sides found it difficult to string passes together.
TNS were guilty of wasting possession and squandering chances, whilst being rarely troubled by the Aberystwyth attack.
The Black & Greens almost took a first minute lead, when Gerard Doherty did well to palm away a shot from former Stevenage Academy youngster Darren Williams, who had an impressive debut.
At the other end, ex-TNS keeper Dean Williams did his best to keep his former team-mates at bay, saving Scott Ruscoe's 20-yarder with ease and then denying Michael Wilde when one-on-one.
Nicky Ward saw his shot saved on the half-hour after good work down the right by Tommy Holmes, but the Black & Greens should have taken the lead just before half-time. Glyndwr Hughes and Gavin Allen set up substitute Nick Evans who fired over the advancing Doherty and the crossbar.
Chris King should have done better with an early second-half opportunity before the Seasiders took a shock lead on the hour.
A long clearance from Aneurin Thomas found Richard Ryan in the box and he capitalised on hesitation by Doherty and the defence to fire home from a narrow angle.
The goal finally galvanised TNS into action and Lloyd-Williams forced a save from Williams within a minute of coming off the bench.
Having finally broken the deadlock with five minutes remaining, Jiws then somehow missed a close range header in front of goal from Scott Ruscoe's cross, but a TNS winner would have been an injustice to a battling home performance.
