Saints crush high-flying Bluebirds
CAERSWS arrived at Treflan as league leaders on goal difference, but left with their tails between their legs after a 5-0 drubbing. TNS took over at the top and underlined their own title pretentions with a confident display, led by hat-trick hero Marc Lloyd-Williams. Making his first league starts, Jiws showed he is certainly not lacking in sharpness and put his side into a 22nd minute lead. Steven Beck released Mike Wilde on the left and his cross was steered in at the far post by Jiws. Six minutes later Wilde followed in his own cross to force the ball home through a goalmouth melee. By the 51st minute the game was as good as over, when Lloyd-Williams increased the lead, tucking the ball into the net after keeper Andy Mulliner had failed to deal with a through ball. Sean Jehu's 59th minute return to Bluebirds' colours after a year out of the game lasted just four minutes when he was somewhat harshly given his marching orders for using an elbow in an aerial challenge. Lloyd-Williams then completed his hat-trick on 77 minutes with the 10-man visitors at full stretch before Beck completed the rout in the last minute. |
