Saints overpower lowly Reds
SAINTS readily took the three points but will regret failing to further improve their goal difference against lowly Llanelli.
It was one way traffic from the moment John Toner opened the TNS account in the fifth minute and only wayward finishing and the woodwork prevented a cricket score.
Mike Wilde was unlucky to see his effort fail to cross the line but Toner followed up to make sure.
The Reds threatened briefly with Jeff Aspell firing well over and Jamie Bradford sending a shot wide after a corner.
But TNS soon opened up a comfort zone after Steven Beck won a midfield tussle for the lively Toner to run into the box and cross for Marc Lloyd-Williams to net at the far post.
Jiws then missed from in front of goal, but made no mistake in the 33rd minute after Scott Ruscoe had fed Nicky Ward on the left and his perfect cross found Lloyd-Williams in space six yards out.
The Llanelli goal somehow survived a barrage of goal attempts within a few seconds when Wilde hit the post, Toner fired the rebound against the bar and Lloyd-Williams followed up to put his shot wide.
Six minutes after the break, Lloyd-Williams again sparked panic in the Llanelli rearguard when he headed across goal and Ruscoe just failed to connect.
Home keeper Huw Liddell did well to save from Jiws after a good move involving Tommy Holmes and Toner.
When the next goal inevitably arrived it was a memorable moment for Toner as he lofted an 18-yard effort over the keeper for his 100th goal in the Welsh Premier.
Lloyd-Williams and Wilde again went close before John Leah, back as substitute after a long absence, sent a 30-yarder crashing against the crossbar in the final minute.
