Unbeaten record sinks in the mud

TNS lost their unbeaten record - and slumped to their heaviest defeat since April 2001 - as Welshpool extracted revenge for their Christmas defeat at Treflan.
Both sides found football almost impossible on a Maesydre mudheap, with a howling gale and driving rain in the first-half making conditions almost unplayable.
But while Saints may point to the conditions as a contributory factor, Welshpool adapted their game far better and thorough deserved the points.
There was little hint of the drama to come as Saints went into an early lead.
Marc Lloyd-Williams latched onto Mike Wilde's headed flick to beat Grant Dawson after only eight minutes.
Pool were level almost immediately when the wind blew a Craig Wilkinson corner away from Steve Evans's head and Steve Rogers pounced to score at the far post.
Mike Wilde headed wide from a Lloyd-Williams cross, but it was Welshpool who forged ahead when Saints were unable to clear a free-kick and Gary Roberts passed for Aden Shannon to net.
TNS were level again by the break when Lloyd-Williams seized on another error to burst past two defenders and place his shot beyond Dawson.
But the game was virtually settled as a contest within 10 minutes of the restart. First, Steve Rogers beat slipping defenders before shooting into the far corner.
Then Aden Shannon was first to react at a Gary Roberts corner to stoop and head past Gerard Doherty.
Both sets of players were finding it increasingly difficult to stand up let alone pass the ball, but Welshpool dominated the proceedings and were rarely troubled at the back.
With Saints becoming increasingly frustrated, a mud-spattered Shannon completed the TNS misery and his hat-trick when he turned in a left wing cross from Gary Roberts.
