MISSED CHANCES PROVE COSTLY
TNS counted the cost of missed opportunities after suffering a frustrating 1-1 Welsh Premier draw at Caernarfon Town.
Saints carved the better chances throughout but needed an 83rd minute leveller from Nicky Ward to salvage a point.
A combination of wasteful finishing and fine goalkeeping from Danny Holdcroft conspired to deny the Saints. Gary Brabin forced a fine save from Holdcroft with his goalbound header early on, with striker Steve Anthrobus nodding the rebound over the bar.
Holdcroft then superbly turned away a 26th minute header from Anthrobus while John Toner blazed over from four yards and saw another effort well saved. Despite their chances, TNS were stunned on the hour when two former Saints players combined to give Caernarfon the lead, Frank Mottram volleying home in superb style from 16 yards after latching onto Scott Millington's free kick.
With frustration boiling over, TNS were reduced to 10 men four minutes later with Tim Alexander (pictured) red-carded following a tangle with Danny Barton on the ground.
The Saints, however, continued to push and earned parity on 83 minutes as substitute Justin Perry crossed from the right, the ball finding Ward who made no mistake from close range.
