TITLE SET-BACK AT PORT TALBOT
TNS's title hopes suffered another set-back after slumping to a disappointing reverse at League of Wales stragglers Port Talbot.
The defeat means the one-time leaders have now slipped nine points adrift of title rivals Barry Town with their recent slide having yielded just four points from five games.
And they could have no complaints after being outbattled by their South Wales hosts, who gave little away throughout.
One goal proved enough to settle the issue with Gary Davies left in space to convert following Russell Wigley's 23rd- minute corner.
And, despite their possession, the Saints rarely suggested they could find a way back although Robbie Wood brought a fine save from 'keeper Gary Wager with a stinging shot after breaking into the box in the 28th minute.
John Toner also went close when his shot skimmed the post but Port Talbot, beaten 4-0 earlier in the season, were not to be denied their chance for revenge.
The Saints struggled to post a worth-while shot on goal in the second half in a display that will give manager Ken McKenna plenty to ponder if he hopes to revive his team's challenge.
