LIGHTS GO OUT ON DRUIDS
SAINTS cast aside a floodlight failure to stay in sight of the League of Wales leaders with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Flexsys Cefn Druids at Treflan.
Despite being delayed for 20 minutes midway through the second half, the TNS lifted last weekend's Welsh Cup gloom with three valuable points.
Yet, it was Welsh Cup semi- finalists Flexsys who had made the brighter start and took a 13th minute lead when Dave Powell caught Dave Bridgwater in possession before threading a neat pass for Mike Davies to run on and fire past advancing keeper Gerard Doherty.
But the hosts steadied the ship and levelled on 27 minutes when Bridgwater atoned for his earlier lapse by heading home after Nicky Ward had crossed from the left byline.
Spurred by the goal, Scott Ruscoe brought a fine save from Dave Blower with a fierce drive but the midfielder was not to be denied on the stroke of half time when firing his shot into the corner of the net from the edge of the box.
Ward put a couple of efforts off target after the break while Cefn were unable to make the most of possession late on as TNS held firm for a crucial win.
