SAINTS BACK TO WINNING WAYS
TNS stayed in hot pursuit of the leaders but were made to work hard before sinking a resolute Connah's Quay Nomads 2-0 at Treflan.
The unbeaten Saints, now in second spot in the Welsh Premier, were kept at bay in a first half stalemate before carving several good openings after the break.
Midfielder Scott Ruscoe and substitute Mike Wilde both had strikes well-saved by keeper David Walsh before the breakthrough arrived on 69 minutes when Martin Naylor crossed from the right, Justin Perry headed down and Wilde poked the ball into the net.
Nicky Ward was denied by Walsh at the second attempt moments later but Nomads had their chances with substitute Carl Butler squandering a golden opening when he miskicked just a few yards out.
Having survived the scare, the Saints sealed victory three minutes from time when Ruscoe beat a couple of defenders on the edge of the box, saw his first shot blocked before latching onto the rebound and firing past Walsh.
