VITAL POINT DROPPED AT HOME
TNS failed to close the gap on the League of Wales leaders, despite twice taking the lead through Justin Perry in this evenly-poised encounter at Treflan. The visitors had started brightly but Saints went ahead on 12 minutes when Perry beat the offside trap before firing under keeper Steve Skupski's body. Caernarfon hit back on 27 minutes, top scorer Tommy Mutton curling a free-kick from the edge of the box into the top of the net. At the other end, Skupski made a fine save from Nicky Ward as both sides had their chances but the visitors went close to taking the lead seven minutes before the interval when Scott Millington's diving header struck the post from Ryan Baker's right-wing cross. With little between the sides in the heavy conditions, Perry headed TNS back in front three minutes into the second half when he rose to divert Dave Bridgwater's cross into the net. But that lead only lasted four minutes with Caernarfon hitting back when Paul Rogers found Danny Barton on the edge of the box and the former TNS striker set himself up before firing his shot into the net via the post. |
