WOOD'S STRIKE SETS UP SAINTS
SAINTS consolidated third spot in the League of Wales after completing the double over the Bluebirds to stay on course for a place in next season's UEFA Cup.
Robbie Wood's goal on the stroke of half-time was enough to separate the sides in a scrappy encounter.
Saints made the breakthrough with virtually the last kick of the first half when Scott Ruscoe broke along the right despite claims for offside and crossed for Justin Perry whose header was palmed away by the diving Matthew Griffiths.
Wood managed to steer the rebound into the net and Caersws rarely looked likely to retrieve the game.
With little between the sides, goalscoring opportunities were scarce with Caersws's best first-half moments coming when Sean Jehu's 23rd-minute free-kick was parried by keeper Gerard Doherty.
Graham Evans also had a shot blocked, while at the other end Ruscoe and Ward were both off target with their efforts.
Evans steered a volley across goal 10 minutes into the second half and another Jehu free-kick was punched away by Doherty.
TNS should have added a second in the last minute when a strike from Ricky Evans bounced up, hitting keeper Griffiths on the head, but Nicky Ward steered wide.
