FIRST MINUTE GOAL SINKS NEWTOWN
TNS kept alive their hopes of finishing runners-up with this closely contested victory at Latham Park.
A first-minute strike from John Leah proved enough to give the visitors the points, with the midfielder bundling the ball in from close range.
Both sides had their chances, Derek Ward going close to a second for the visitors when heading against the bar.
But Newtown also launched several good raids on the visiting goal, with Chris Adamson in particular spurning their best openings.
Although John Toner and Scott Ruscoe volleyed shots wide for the visitors early in the second half, Robins' Dave Watkins saw one shot skim the woodwork.
TNS, however, held on for the victory which keeps them one point behind Bangor with both sides having one game to play.
